- Abstract
- The purpose of this study is to deepen the understanding of the social worker’s professional role and practice in relation to public debate and politics, with a focus on three distinct themes: The influence of public debate on the professional role and its consequences, Political unawareness and its consequences for the professional role, and the influence of public debate on service users. The results of this study showed that public debate and politics play a big part in the social worker’s professional role and practice. Challenges arise when the negative discourse adversely affects service users’ willingness to cooperate and social workers’ motivation in their professional practice. (Less)
