Monte Carlo simulation of a multiparticle imaging Cherenkov counter

- A simulation study of a new Cherenkov detector for the NA44 experiment is presented. Different positions and configurations of the counter are evaluated. The best particle identification is achieved with a CaF2 window and with the chamber placed in front of hodoscope 3 (H3).
