Abstract
As a result of the reorganization of Lund Institute of Technology at Lund University, the new Department of Design Sciences was established. In focus of the establishment of this Department was the ambition to facilitate cross-disciplinary research within the design area. The project presented here is one of the first results of this ambition. In this project the overall objective is the increase of the efficiency as well as of the effectiveness of the product development process in the global enterprise. The project presented here is one of the first results of this ambition. In this project the overall objective is the increase of the efficiency as well as of the effectiveness of the product development process in the global enterprise. In order to fulfil this objective, the integration of packaging logistics into the product development process has been studied. The result presented here consists of a preliminary procedure model and an inventory of the constitutive activities forming the packaging logistics process during product development. In addition to the procedure model also methods and techniques for directly handling the problems derived from the activities obtained are briefly elaborated upon.
