Abstract
The purpose of this essay was to, by the ecology of human development theory, examine 10-year old childrens own experience of their lifesituation outside the time of school. The study was based on qualitative interviews with six 10-year old children from a smaller community in Sweden. The main guestions was:

1. What is the experience of being 10 year?

2. How does the children use their time after shool?

3. What mening has the spirit of togetherness with friends?

4. What mening has the spirit of togetherness with family?

5. What does 10 year old children think about their future?

The results showed that the examined 10-year old children for the most part seemed satisfied in their lifesituations. The studie also shows how the... (More)
