Abstract
I have made an inquiry about stage communication, small talk and on-stage rhetoric. The essay is divided into different parts. There is a background part that gives a short overview about other research and literature that has been made on the subject. A background has been put together to help you as a reader to understand the complex science can be. Here you will find work written by Dorothy Irving and Åke Lundberg among others. I have taken part of and reflected on curriculum and report criteria of the courses taught in senior high schools regarding stage communication. I have taken part of and reflected on curriculum and report criteria of the courses taught in senior high schools regarding stage communication. The purpose is to examine the attitude towards stage communication, to see if stage communication is being taught in schools today, and if that is the case: how? Also to see if peoples personal role models characterize their attitude towards stage communication is also a part of the purpose. I have done four qualitative interviews, two single and two in groups, with two teachers and eight students on two different artistic senior high schools. The answers from the interviews have been transcribed, analysed and reflected on. One of the schools has chosen to integrate stage communication with the other music courses, and it hasn?t worked. Both the students and the teacher think that there should be more time put in to it but that the time just isn?t there. The other school works with stage communication but within the obligatory course ?Artistic activity?. Due to this the school is facing a moral dilemma since the school can?t fulfil the actual content of the course. Both of the schools have the ambition to try to preserve the good things that stage communication brings but haven?t quite succeeded. My conclusion is that the two schools need to work on their teaching on the subject in different ways.
