- The aim of this thesis is to investigate whether personal development, from the professional perspective, could be a relevant part of the music education department at Malmö Academy of Music. The thesis explores whether students would gain a better understanding of the professional teacher's role through personal development, and also the kind of educational structure that would be most suitable to achieve this understanding. A qualitative focal group interview was used as a method, and the participants where four students at Malmö Academy of Music. - The aim of this thesis is to investigate whether personal development, from the professional perspective, could be a relevant part of the music education department at Malmö Academy of Music. The thesis explores whether students would gain a better understanding of the professional teacher's role through personal development, and also the kind of educational structure that would be most suitable to achieve this understanding. A qualitative focal group interview was used as a method, and the participants where four students at Malmö Academy of Music. The results show that the students generally would be open-minded to integrate personal development in their educational program, and they also have a lot of interesting ideas regarding how a framework for the integration of personal development in the educational program could be structured. A number of suggestions how to integrate self reflection in the educational program are presented in the thesis. One of the conclusions is that students at the music education department early in the program should get knowledge about, and understanding for the importance of the personality in the teaching profession, and how self reflection can help when it comes to the teacher's relations to colleagues and students.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka om yrkesinriktad personlig utveckling skulle kunna bli en naturlig del av lärarutbildningen i musik på Musikhögskolan Malmö, och i så fall möjlig struktur för detta. Metoden är en kvalitativ fokusgruppundersökning där fyra studenter vid Musikhögskolan i Malmö ingår. Resultatet visar att musiklärarstudenterna generellt är öppna för att arbeta med självutveckling i sin utbildning, och kommer med intressanta och konstruktiva idéer angående tänkbara ramar för att utveckla lärarutbildningen inom detta område. Jag ger ett antal indikationer på hur lärarutbildningen i musik skulle kunna utveckla området självreflektion. En slutsats är bland annat att lärarstudenter redan tidigt iutbildningen bör få insikt i, och förståelse för den egna personlighetens betydelse i lärarrollen, samt hur positiv självutveckling kan hjälpa läraren i hans/hennes relationer till elever och kollegor.
