Abstract
In this report the balconies’ abutments for a property in Bo01-area in Malmö has been studied. The property which is called Vitruvius contains four build-ings where two of them have corbelling balconies with intermittent abutments. With intermittent abutment means that the 50 mm thermal bridge insulation that the balconies is equipped with, is broken regularly by a 300 mm concrete heel. The reinforcement bar that holds the balcony runs through this heel. The first step in this study was to prove the existence of thermal bridges in the balcony abutment. This was done through measuring the temperature of the balconies with a thermal camera. The thermographic picture showed that the average temperature in the balcony was 3.4ºC with an outdoor... This was done through measuring the temperature of the balconies with a thermal camera. The thermographic picture showed that the average temperature in the balcony was 3.4ºC with an outdoor temperature of -1.2ºC. Then when the energy losses through the balcony abutments were calculated, with the heat calculation programme HEAT2, it was established that the en-ergy loss was 88.0 W/K, where the concrete heel caused more than half of the losses, about 56 W/K. In this report an alternative solution is also studied in order to decrease the en-ergy losses at the abutment of the balconies. This solution made by HALFEN-DEHA AB called balkonginfästning HIT achieves an unbroken thermal bridge insulation. According to the calculation implemented with the heat calculation programme HEAT2, it was established that the transmissions losses decreased with 84 % by use of such a construction solution. Further, it has been shown by the energy calculation programme VIP +, what impact these losses have on the total energy need of the buildings. Simulations showed that the energy need increased by 4 kWh¬/(m2?years), an increase of 2.6% , caused by energy losses in the balcony abutment. (Less)
Abstract (Swedish)
(More)
