- Abstract
- The purpose with our essay is to shed light on homeless womens vital conditions from two perspectives, the homeless women and different professionals whom in there profession deal with homeless women and their problems. To obtain this we used the following questions: Ø Under which vital conditions do the homeless women live and which survival strate-gies do they have? Ø What kind of response do the homeless women get from authorities and the general public? Ø In what way do the homeless women receive help to get out of their homelessness? The methods we used were qualitative interviews with professionals and, of course, homeless women. We also took part of earlier research and literature. In this way we wanted to get a deeper and more detailed picture of the problem female homelessness. Homeless women live a dangerous and exposed life, and violence and abuse is often daily experiences. Female homelessness has for a long time been a hidden problem, but during the last years it has been more observed. Despite the fact that focus has landed more on this group of homeless people, we found that the women still have problems with receiving the appropriate help they need and ask for. (Less)
