- Abstract
- The purpose of this essay is to describe some of the factors influencing the ability to see to the best interest of the child originating from article 3.1, in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, which states: " In all actions concerning children, whether undertaken by public or private social welfare institutions, courts of law, administrative authorities or legislative bodies, the best interests of the child shall be a primary consideration". To fulfill my purpose and to be able to identify these different factors, I have used literature and qualitative interviews to discuss the concept of child-perspective and the rights of the child, knowledge of the child convention and the influences from it. Focus has been set on society and the obligations it has, in helping children that are hurt, or are at the risk at being hurt. The importance of cooperation between social welfare and other different authorities is also emphasized. All the factors used in this essay are finally summarized. The conclusion is that the factors benefiting the best interest of an individual child, is a decision taken both at an individual level as well as at a central level. (Less)
