- Abstract
- The aim of this paper was to examine which theories on suicide that exist, and to compare the reasons given by the different theories why some people kill themselves. This has been done as an analysis of litterature within the field. The two main theories are the sociological theory and the psychological theory. The sociological theory explains suicides to be due to factors in society, while the psychological theory uses personal factors to explain suicide. I have then applied the different models of explanation to Swedish statistics of what people commit suicide in Sweden.
