Abstract
This essay deals with eight women, who all left their native country Bosnia because of the war. Before the flight, each individual is a human being with a role and a place in the structure of society. After the flight, she suddenly finds herself in an unknown community, after having lost her land, her culture, family, friends and identity. The purpose of this essay was to try to give a backdrop of the Bosnian woman's situation in the Swedish labour market from a theoretical point of view and through interviews from the immigrant woman's own perspective. Our questions revolved around how Bosnian women experience the Swedish labour market and which views the have on it. Which possibilities and problems do they feel that they, as women and as... (More)

Our questions revolved around how Bosnian women experience the Swedish labour market and which views the have on it. Which possibilities and problems do they feel that they, as women and as immigrants, face? We started with a short narrative on the women's background, i.e. age, education in their native country, religion etc. Since we believe that the values that we are given under our early years controls our actions later in life, we asked our interviewees which values concerning education and labour they carry with them from their upbringing. We worked in a qualitative method, and performed eight deep interviews. We chose this method because it notices and focuses on ambiguous empiricism. It also pays greater attention to the studied subject's perspective than the quantitative methods. The results from the interviews were presented thematically, as description and discussion. (Less)
