- Abstract
- The purpose with this research is to comprehend the function of a local Victim Support Service in comparison to other local organisations, and also to receive a deeper understanding of the function role of the crime victim in the supportive work, and with this information interpret and analyse the work with crime victim on a local level. - The purpose with this research is to comprehend the function of a local Victim Support Service in comparison to other local organisations, and also to receive a deeper understanding of the function role of the crime victim in the supportive work, and with this information interpret and analyse the work with crime victim on a local level. The research is based on six qualitative interviews, previous research and other relevant literature. The material was analysed based on theories of interaction and previous research. Central questions were What function do Victim Support Service has in relation to cooperative partners? What do the crime victim centre and the other authorities supportive work include? What function do the role of the crime victim have? Is the crime victim role considered to be a group phenomenon, related to a specific group or is it situationrelated, which could appear to anyone? The result of the study showed that the function of the crime victim centre, in relation to other public sector organisations, could be both of a complement and of an alternative and that the centre fills the empty space that the public sector cannot fill. The crime victim role is partly a practical need but it could also derive from a human perspective with an urge of categorising the group in relation to oneself. (Less)
