- Abstract
- The purpose of this essay is to examine what children at the age of eleven think about their rights. Do children feel, that they were treated well by adults and are listened to and if adults really respected them? Do children know anything about the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child? Our questions at the issue were: What is convention of the Child? What is article 12.1 about? What knowledge do children have about UN Convention on the Rights of the Child? How do children define the conception of their rights? What about children's cognitive progress at the age of eleven? What does earlier research say about children's participation? Do children feel they have any participation at home and in school? We used qualitative method. We wanted to understand children's way to think and that's also why we took their perspective. The pupils wrote a composition about their rights and we also interviewed them two and two. Finally we had a ladder, where children told us if they are satisfied about there participation. The result was clear, children known much about their rights and they were satisfied with their participation both at home and in school. (Less)
