- Based on the debate in the media following the SOU (2003:49)-reports different suggestions to strengthen the childs role in the adoption process, we started considering the adoptive parents reactions to all this. Has anyone asked them? What support would they want? The objective of our paper was to present the result of a number of interviews with adoptive parents regarding some of the questions from the SOU (2003:49)-report. Furthermore, we wanted to find out if they felt that the officials they met were competent with regard to questions dealing with adoptions and the adoption process. Our survey showed that there were no great conflicts between some of the suggestions presented in the SOU (203:49)-report and the parents reactions to it. There is, whilst keeping the childs best interests in sight, still much to be done from the side of the community to support and help adoptive parents. (Less)
