We have studied earlier research, and interviewed people that meet prostitutes in their work. The Swedish and Danish legislation about prostitution looks a bit different. The Danish law decriminalizes prostitution and the Swedish law makes buying sexual services a criminal offence. Both countries pursue social work to help the prostitutes. The police, the medical service and the social welfare do the practical work in Malmö, and it is organized in a similar way in Copenhagen. We have found that, even though the legislation in Sweden and Denmark is different, the work that is done by the police and others still is quite comparable. (Less)
