The purpose of this study was to examine if the work done by the professional workers of Fritids- och Förebyggande Verksamhet in Rosengård could be considered as a form of empowerment. Based on different views on empowerment and a meta-theory by Elisheva Sadan who tries to link empowerment to Anthony Giddens Structuration Theory we set out to explain the empirical evidence that we gathered from our respondents. We found that what we saw in Rosengård definitively could be described as empowerment and we also saw evidence of self-empowerment amongst the professional workers. (Less)
