The number of companies that are discovering the benefits of having a process-oriented mindset is continually increasing. But moving from having a strict functional-oriented mindset to becoming more process-oriented does not happen over night. The road of transformation is long and many challenges are faced on the way. This thesis focuses on the question of how companies should approach a transformation of this kind in order to implement the new mindset successfully within the organisation. The authors have developed the ACE-model for Business Process Implementation that aims to function as a roadmap for organisations that are striving to become more process-oriented. Alfa Laval has during the last two years mapped their generic supply chain activities according to the SCOR-model, and is now on their way of implementing these standardised workflows on their manufacturing sites around the world. One of the purposes of this thesis is to create a management system framework, including a management structure with roles and responsibilities, in order to secure the sustainability of Alfa Laval’s new set of standardised workflows. Further, recommendations for implementing such a management system framework as well as the standardised workflows are presented. (Less)
