- Fiberbar manufactures glass-fiber reinforcement that is intended to be used in different types of structures, such as buildings and bridges. In order for the reinforcement to fulfill it’s purpose. It’s requires that the reinforcing and concrete interact under load. Earlier trials have shown that the anchorage between the concrete and glass fiber reinforcement is substandard for Fiberbar AB's products. Therefore, the company has changed the surface layer of fiberglass rods, which gives the rods their anchoring properties. An additional layer epoxy is now added on top of the two existing layers. This thesis examines the bond characteristics of the new rods by pull-out and beam-tests. Anchorage tests performed show an uneven production, where some of the rods produced are very good and some are substandard. The problem lies in the mixture of the epoxy, linking the surface layer with the rod. (Less)
