The purpose with this study was to begin with to examine how the word neglect was understood and used within the geriatric care and in the different categories of people in the organisation. The purpose with this study was to begin with to examine how the word neglect was understood and used within the geriatric care and in the different categories of people in the organisation. We also were interested in what riskfactors that can arise within the geriatric care and what situations that can arise and be associated with the word neglect or incongruity within the geriatric care.
The result of our study shows that there is no big difference in how geriatric care and media understands the word neglect. The big difference lies in how they use the word.
Our study also shows that stress and absence of communication are two riskfactors within the geriatric care.
For our study we have performed eleven individual, structured interviews on different categories of people within the geriatric care, and with two journalists within media
