Abstract
The purpose of this essay was to examine how employees with different professions refute abused women and if they have different methods in their work procedures. We also want to see if there are any differences or similarities in work procedures and refutation among our chosen professions. The focus of interest is if an insufficient refutation and work procedure involves consequences for the abused woman. Our questions at issues are how our chosen employees work with abused women? How do these chosen employees refute abused women in their work procedures? Witch methods are being used in the employees work with abused women?

The focus of interest is if an insufficient refutation and work procedure involves consequences for the abused woman. Our questions at issues are how our chosen employees work with abused women? How do these chosen employees refute abused women in their work procedures? Witch methods are being used in the employees work with abused women?

The research was based on a qualitative study consisting of seven interviews. The participants we interviewed were a midwife, an almoner, a social worker, a policeman, a woman from women´s support centre, a woman from the centre of crime victims, an expert in knowledge on men´s violence against women who also is a writer and a educator in the matter. To contextualize the information gathered the communication theory has been used. The empirical material from our seven semi structured interviews has been analyzed on the basis of the communication theory, literature and the expert in knowledge on men´s violence against women. Through this study we have come to the conclusion that the professional refutation is important in the woman’s decision for leaving the abusive relationship. We have also seen in our results that the professionals have different work procedures and different ways to refute abused women depending on their professional role.
