To achieve our purpose DHL, an international shipping company, whose activity is extremely exposed for the environment, will be analysed. Questionary: What is the connection between the internal company structure and the external demands?
Which are the surrounding world’s environmental demands?
How does DHL handle the environmental demands? Method: The essay is based on qualitative interviews with DHL staff and Internet-based quantitative inquiries aimed at companies using haulage contractors in their business. Conclusions: Two contradictive conclusions have been seen as a result of this essay. On one hand we discovered that the environmental engagement in the world is moving forward, which is a consequence of interest from authorities and consumers. Even DHL itself is engaged in environmental work, as they have realised all the positive effects of this engagement. At the same time, the analysis showed that environmental work is not done for the environmental purpose alone. It also needs a substantial cost saving or increase of income to make it interesting enough. (Less)
