- Everyday life of divorced and/or seperated fathers [translated title]
The aim of this study was to examine how divorced and/or separated fathers perceive everyday life. The target group was delimited to Swedish men that had their children living with them on half-time or more. The analysis took the sociology of knowledge as a starting point and was made on the basis of the research findings of eight semi-structured interviews and literature studies. In parts of the analysis we also applied system theory. The questions at issue were: In what way does current standards of society affect single fathers, how is their everyday life affected by the social network and how do the fathers view their role as parents. The main results of the study were that current standards in society effect separated fathers in many ways, such as in the contact with authorities. They had a positive view of themselves as parents, but the social network played a decisive role as to how they viewed their possibilities to change everyday life in the direction they wished. (Less)
