- Abstract
- The purpose of this thesis is to examine and compare the effect of institutional quality on the economic growth rate in developed and developing countries. To do this panel data was examined using a pooled regression model and a fixed effects model. Three institutional variables from Freedom House, the International Country Risk Guide and the Database of Political Institutions were used. The results indicate that institutional quality has a significant and positive relationship with growth in both developed and developing countries. While institutional indicators overall performed similarly regardless of development status, civil liberties was deemed more adapt at promoting growth in developing countries, whereas the number of veto players...
