- Abstract
- With the perception from literature that the partial concepts within SRHR (Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights) Sexual Health (SH); Reproductive Health (RH); Sexual Rights (SR); and Reproductive Rights (RR) where used more or less interchangeably and to an uneven frequency, my aim for this paper was twofold – to find the distinctions between the partial concepts and through framing theory suggest an explanation as to why they are used at such different frequencies. The approach to the first was mostly descriptive, whilst application of the theory upon my material was the chosen method for the latter.

The approach to the first was mostly descriptive, whilst application of the theory upon my material was the chosen method for the latter.
The inquiry of respective contents of the partial concepts showed that although they overlap considerably, there does in fact exist some differences between them, and that can, in itself, explain some of the variation in usage.
Some confusion arose as to whether the chosen parts of framing theory more or less equalled the activity of naming, rather than actual framing, as the proces-sual elements of the theory where left out, but as used, the theory provided that in-sight that strategic aim might benefit some of the partial concepts over others; namely RH and RR over SH and SR– but even more distinctively RH, RR and SH over SR because of its controversy. The issue would benefit from further research to explain why such controversy prevails and overshadows the issues of health and rights. (Less)
