- Abstract
- This graduation project examines how pool fires in dike areas effect surrounding tanks containing liquid hydrocarbons, as well as other equipment in an oil refinery. The purpose of the report is to investigate a certain tank area at Preemraff Lysekil and give some suggestions to reduce the consequences of a dike pool fire. Calculations and simulations has been done according to heat radiation, flow in a dumping system
and foam application capability. Experiments have also been brought out to investigate fire hoses tolerance of heat radiation.
The report shows that the fire safety at the chosen object is under present circumstances lacking. The result from the simulations and calculations shows that a pool fire in the dike area is...
