- Abstract
- This report contains a fire safety evaluation of Bålsta centre in the community of Håbo, Sweden. The centre is a shopping mall that includes about 30 stores of different kinds. The evaluation concerns the vacuation of 2000 people in the building during a possible fire situation. To be able to find out if the fire safety is good enough, different methods have been used. First a visit at the Bålsta Centre was made, where discussion with the owner of the property and instructor from Bålsta fire station took place and three possible fire scenarios

To evaluate the egress safety Simulex was used, and to evaluate time to smoke filling CFAST was mainly used. One scenario was also made in a CFD-model to compare the results and reliability for the two-zone model. The existing fire safety protection and the egresstrategy were evaluated, which turned out to be satisfying. Some minor improvement such as installation of a pre-recorded spoken egress message is though still required. (Less)
