It is argued that the category of ethno-national diasporas constitutes a dominant discursive strategy within the wider discurive formation on diaspora. It is also argued that this notion of diaspora implies an emphasis on descent and affinity by birth. It is suggested that the concept of diaspora maintains the logic of the nation-state in a relation of ”inclusive exclusion” thus attributing to it a degree of sovereignty and legitimacy. (Less)
