- Abstract
- There are three significant agriculture reforms that have profound influence to the agriculture production since the new Chinese government set up in 1949. The thesis presents the detailed information of the three reforms and explores the each reform’s special contribution to the economic performance. Two objectives are highlighted in the thesis, i.e. the reasons that institutions matter for economic development and the engine for the institutional evolution. For convincing the institution’s impact on economic performance, the quantitative approach is applied. The trends of TFP growth and labor productivity share similar pattern, which further supports the assumption that institution has the capability of shaping the productivity and significantly affecting economic performance. .
