The purpose of this study was to investigate, describe and analyze what it means for children to get to and staying in shelters, from professionals' point of view. The study was based on a qualitative method; we made semi-structured interviews with eight respondents in six shelters in the county of Skåne, Sweden. We used different themes in our interview guide that was linked to our questions. The themes were: the concept of children's perspectives, information, participation, care perspective, support and treatment, positive and negative aspects with sheltered accommodation for children, questions about school, friends and activities, and issues concerning visitation of the fathers. These themes were widely reported in this study. The theoretical framework of the analysis was based on the sociology of childhood and children's perspective in which children are seen as actors with their own rights. As a conclusion, all respondents had a child's perspective but applied it differently in their work with children. The application of the child's perspective in the shelters had various levels of development, which not only depended on the attitudes towards children but also on the resources and experience of the professionals.
