This is a qualitative study aimed to explore transgender experiences of the workplace situation. That is, whether a sex change, whether it is a legal medical or a social change of gender, has implications for Trans people in the workplace. The issues we examine is the standard of conduct by colleagues and supervisors of people after getting a sex change or a change of sexual expression. How does the Discrimination Act (2008:567) help to shape the work climate in their respective workplaces, for those who undergo a sex change or change gender expression? How do transgender people experience their position of power in the workplace and employers' attitudes regarding wages, after a sex change or a change of sexual expression? In conclusion, we note that our analysis of the overall empirical evidence generally shows that our respondents have received a good response in the form of respect, acceptance, and without bias from managers and colleagues in their respective workplaces, after they came out as transgender. It turned out that the Discrimination Act has not made a drastic difference in the workplace. Our respondents have felt that their position was unchanged, that is to say that they neither had more or less power at each workplace. In the case of wages after sex change or a change in sexual expression, there is a shared experience. (Less)
