Abstract
Sound quality is an essential factor in communication. At Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications(SEMC) it is very important to deliver the best quality. To do that is vital for the company reputation and therefore a test tool is needed to ease this accomplishment. This thesis shall be about developing a test analysis tool to SEMC that will specifically analyze the quality difference between two audio files. An abstract scenario can contain two mobile devices that are communicating with each other. The original audio file is sent from one device and transferred to the other device. During this transfer the original audio file is affected by for example the transferring medium and various speech coders and thus sound quality is changed. The two... (More)

An abstract scenario can contain two mobile devices that are communicating with each other. The original audio file is sent from one device and transferred to the other device. During this transfer the original audio file is affected by for example the transferring medium and various speech coders and thus sound quality is changed. The two audio files shall be simulated with help of a software where an algorithm is used to measure and analyze these two files. The analysis will give valuable results which will show for example the difference between the original audio file and the corresponding transferred file; which
will later be used to improve the quality of the transferred audio file. To simulate different scenarios, suitable test environment shall be constructed. The environment will consist of two mobile phones and one computer with the software which will be developed. Our task is to develop an algorithm which can sample and quantify an audio file and give usable measured values. Furthermore the algorithm will compare the measured values and show the deviation between the two audio files. The results of this comparison will later be used by Sony Ericsson to improve and keep the sound quality on an acceptable level in
their mobile devices. During the development of the software several test cases shall be implemented and several practical scenarios shall be covered. (Less)
