- By now I’ve probably filled an ocean - crisis management and how to move on after losing someone
The purpose of this study was to examine how people manage crisis after someone’s death and if there are different phases while in grief. Cullberg’s theory of crisis is used as an analytical tool. The method I employed was document analysis of eight blogs and ten posts on different open Internet communities where people wrote about their grief. My findings revealed that grief is very individual and that everyone has his or her own way of dealing with it. What is suitable for one person may not always be suitable for someone else. Grief may be inconstant. Someone might not want to talk about it right now but that doesn’t mean that they don’t... My findings revealed that grief is very individual and that everyone has his or her own way of dealing with it. What is suitable for one person may not always be suitable for someone else. Grief may be inconstant. Someone might not want to talk about it right now but that doesn’t mean that they don’t want to talk in a little while. Many writers say that it’s important for them to be able to express themselves whenever it suits them. This might be the reason why people choose to write about their grief on the Internet. I have also found that Cullberg’s theory of crisis isn’t always applicable due to this. My results imply that his theory might work better for professionals with clients, compared with analyzing information off the Internet. (Less)
