- This master thesis examines a space issue in compact living and results in a transformable
chair that also can serve as a bench. A big part of the project is the complex and creative
way for the designer to fi nd his form language. Th is report looks closer on compact living,
furniture in general, the chair especially, trends, infl uences from the furniture industry,
carpentry and related subjects. Th e fi rst part of the report is a research in today’s literature
on the area of compact living. Deeper knowledge of modern furniture and more specifi
ed furniture for compact living is reached by literature research, scientifi c articles, the
visit at Stockholm Furniture Fair 2011 and frequent visits at design bloggs on the internet.
