that occurs in the meeting between two different cultures. This is a descriptive study that focuses on how you maintain your musical traditions in a foreign society. The study also includes the importance of knowing your own cultural identity. As a reader of this study you should be ware of the opposite of the results meaning how you maintain your Swedish musical traditions in a Persian society. The target group of people in this study are adults with a Persian background living in Malmo. The people that has been interviewed are well educated with a unique interest for music. With the help of interviews I have made research of their own experiences of work and leisure time in Malmo city and how they maintain their musical traditions in Sweden. In my study it has occurred that people with Persian background are very connected to
their Persian roots that contains different cultural legacies. Music has not been the only cultural tradition, it is more extensive. Living in a swedish society has not become a restriction for their Persian traditions. The study has made me realize the importance of feeling free as a person on the basis of your ethnicity. Studien uppmärksammar även vikten av att känna igen sin kulturella identitet. Som läsare av denna uppsats bör man beakta resultatens motsats det vill säga hur man kan ta tillvara på sina svenska musiktraditioner i ett persiskt samhälle. Målgruppen i denna studie är vuxna personer med persisk bakgrund bosatta i Malmö. Personerna som intervjuats är välutbildade människor med ett gediget intresse för musik. Med hjälp av intervjuer har jag forskat kring deras egna upplevelser av arbete och fritid i Malmö stad samt hur de själva tar tillvara på sina musiktraditioner i Sverige. Det har framkommit i min undersökning att människor med persisk bakgrund har en mycket nära relation till sina persiska rötter bestående av olika kulturella arv.
Musiken har inte varit det enda kulturella arvet utan är mer omfattande. Att leva i ett svenskt samhälle har inte begränsat deras närhet till persiska traditioner. Undersökningen har berikat min lärdom av hur viktigt det är att känna sig fri utifrån sin etnicitet. (Less)
