Data was processed with content analysis.Findings: Leadership was essential for efficient teamwork. Failures in leadership may force the nurse anaesthetist to act as advisor or even informal leader. Challenging the hierarchical team structure requires caution and consideration in order to avoid tension and conflicts. Deficits in teamwork with ward nurses were reported, both regarding team roles and technical skills. Conclusion: A proficient leadership and a respectful attitude are needed to ensure a working climate where every team member can perform at the top their ability and provide a safe patient care. Issues of role confusion and lack of technical skills could be solved through improved CPR training for ward nurses. (Less)
