Abstract
The questions and the debate on whether or not adoption should be permitted to homosexuals are widespread and controversial. Looking into the guidelines in international conventions, one will find a high amount of ambiguity and vagueness in the formulations and the rhetoric within these conventions on this subject. While the conventions arbitrate a message of equality, homosexuals are often denied rights and privileges of family and family-life on the same conditions as heterosexuals. This paper tries to analyze homosexual’s rights and conditions to adopt and forming a family by diving into the historic development of homosexual rights and by analyzing the contents of international conventions that define children’s rights and rights such as equality and a respected private life, as they are stated within their respective conventions.
