- Abstract
- This report is an evaluation of evacuation safety, during fire, in Söderhallarna, Stockholm. Söderhallarna is a combined market hall with regular stores, restaurants and offices. A lot of people visit Söderhallarna daily, especially during the greater holidays, such as Christmas and Easter. Many non-Swedish speaking tourists visit the market hall, emphasizing the importance to have easy to understand signs and multi lingual evacuation alarms. After inspection of the object, four fire scenarios were chosen for further analysis. Simulations of the fire scenarios were made in FDS5 and controls where made in CFAST. From the FDS simulations, time to critical conditions was given regarding sight, temperature and smoke gas layer height. Simulex... (More)

Simulex was used to simulate the egress of people. Three simulations per scenario were made, altering the mixture of people, giving a span for the egress time of Söderhallarna. The total time for evacuation is given by adding time to detection, decision and reaction. To compensate for variations the evacuation time was varied in @risk. By comparing the maximum time for evacuation with time to critical conditions a discrete result of whether evacuation can be securely done was produced. No injuries during evacuation are accepted, for scenarios presenting lacks in evacuation safety recommendations for improvement are made. (Less)
