Abstract (Swedish)

I denna uppsats undersöker jag vad texterna på kungahuset.se förmedlar i fråga om sociala konstruktioner som heteronormativitet och ”vi och dem”-perspektiv. Jag studerar också hur texter och bilder dramatiseras och myter skapas eller återberättas. Jag har avgränsat min studie till de publikationer som gjorts i den kungliga kalendern mellan 1-31 oktober 2012.
Kungahuset.se är den svenska kungafamiljens officiella webbsida och författas av hovets informationsavdelning. Webbsidan publicerar information kring kungafamiljens officiella uppdrag samt publicerar uttalande och kungörelser gällande kungafamiljens medlemmar. Jag har genom kvalitativ innehållsanalys undersökt ordval, ords förekomster samt om det finns en dramatisk uppbyggnad eller uttalande av myter.
Med hjälp av semiotisk bildanalys har jag bland annat tittat på vem/vilka som står i centrum i bilderna, vilket kroppsspråk som används samt förekomster av leende och avståndstagande.

Studien visar att de analyserade texterna och bilderna på många sätt följer de normerande värderingarna kring könsroller och förhållande till den Andre samt att klasskillnaderna är tydliga i både bilder och text.
Analysen visar också hur kungahusets bevarande av traditioner och historia, förmedlas genom dramatiskt berättande och mytbildning.

Abstract

In this essay, I examine the mediation of social structures, like heteronormativity and "us and them" perspective, in the texts and images at kungahuset.se. I also study how text and images are dramatized and myths are created or retold. I have limited my study to the publications made in the royal calendar, from 1-31 October 2012.
Kungahuset.se is the Swedish royal family's official website and is authored by the court's information department. The website publishes information about the royal family's official duties and publishes statements and announcements regarding royal family members. I have through qualitative content analysis examined the choice of words, word occurrences and if there is a dramatic build-up and statement of myths.
Using semiotic analysis, I have looked at who/what is in center of the images, which body language used and occurrences of smiling and rejection.

The study shows that the analyzed texts and images in many ways follows the normative values regarding gender roles and relationship to the Other, and that class differences are evident in both images and texts.
The analysis also shows how the royal family’s preservation of traditions and history, are conveyed through dramatic storytelling and myths.
