The aim of this study is to examine how Helsingborg, a town in Sweden, works with integration of unaccompanied asylum seeking children regarding a temporary home for refugee children and how integration of children which have received asylum is performed. To get the information to this study we have interviewed six integration coaches who work with this. We asked them questions concerning integration and how they help children with their integration process. The answers were differentiated and all of them had their own opinion of what integration is. The majority of the answers mentioned school and safety as key ingredients to get those children to feel like a part of our society.
The staff told us that they had a good cooperation with the schools the children go to and also with voluntary organizations that sometimes take care of the children. In our analyses and result we used a systems theory and a social ecological systems theory to examine how these theories could be used to interpret the information we had gathered. The results showed that there are both positive and negative things with temporary homes that accept both children who are seeking asylum and children who have already been approved to a residence in Sweden.
