- Abstract (Swedish)
- This master’s thesis relates to the design of prefabricated balconies. Such balconies are often designed in different ways. A separate investigation of what is technically possible regarding, among other things, supports and balcony sizes must often be performed in every project involving balconies. Three kinds of solutions are presented. These are tie rod, cantilever and column supported balconies.
The report describes how to fix the balconies to the building, considering aspects such as heat transfer and soundproofing. However, emphasis is put on static finite element calculations. An investigation of the fire safety capacity for the steel tie rods is also included in this report.

The results show that the design of tie-rod supported balconies can be improved by placing the balcony slab free from the facade, resulting in a number of advantages. These advantages include minimised heat losses, improved air and water-sealing and simplified facade working conditions. The cantilevered balconies are designed to obtain maximum flexibility in terms of applicability to different situations. The model presented can be used with any kind of prefabricated slab. (Less)
