Abstract
An evaluation of occupant safety in case of a fire has been made for Rosvalla Nyköping Eventcenter as a part of the educational programme of Fire Protection Engineering at Lund University. The condition for occupant safety was that evacuation could be done under safe conditions. A deterministic approach has been applied during the project, which means qualitative and quantitative discussions have been made throughout the entire report. The method that has been used to evaluate if evacuation is safe or not, is based on qualitative scenario analysis. The three chosen scenarios were composed by models, which in turn made it possible to calculate the required safe egress time (RSET) and compare it to the available safe egress time (ASET). If... The three chosen scenarios were composed by models, which in turn made it possible to calculate the required safe egress time (RSET) and compare it to the available safe egress time (ASET). If the result became RSET < ASET it was declared a safe evacuation. The conclusions turned out to be that the existing fire protection wasn’t good enough and a few changes have been suggested. All the proposals passed the validation tests. (Less)
