(2013) SKOM12 20131Department of Strategic Communication
- Abstract
- Many researchers express that the boundaries between internal and external communication are being blurred. However, since few studies suggest what communicative implications this has for organizations, our study explores a highly under investigated topic. One way in which the blurring of boundaries is expressed is that employees can bring forth internal organizational issues in online issue arenas. In order to achieve an increased understanding on the topic, a qualitative study of the Facebook group “Rädda Universitetssjukhuset i Lund” using text analysis and interviews, was carried out. Our study shows that through the commitment of many individuals an issue arena can potentially generate a powerful group, which can perform practical... (More)

This in turn may attract attention from news media and decision makers. If employees choose to utilize the potential that lies within online issue arenas, this paper concludes that it may affect the traditional decision making process within public organizations. (Less)
- Abstract (Swedish)
(More)
