It also concerns Pussy Riot, Frida Kahlo and My Little Pony, to mention a few. Furthermore, the study discusses how the symbols are worn and the feelings attached to them, and puts the symbols in a historical context. The conclusion draws focus to how the representation through symbols is depending on three dimensions of vision. In the demonstrations, the participants see other symbols and other participants see theirs. This creates a greater sense of community which makes it easier for the participants to demand their share of the public space, and deal with the gaze from people outside of the movement. (Less)
