Abstract (Swedish)
Syftet med vår undersökning var att undersöka hur socialarbetare med utländsk bakgrund resonerar kring ett behov av kulturkompetens i möten med invandrarklienter. Våra frågeställningar var: Hur definierar socialarbetarna begreppet kulturkompetens? Vilka erfarenheter har socialarbetarna av betydelsen av kulturkompetens i socialt arbete med invandrarklienter? Och vilka fördelar och nackdelar finns det med kulturkompetens enligt socialarbetarna? Vår studie är baserad på fem intervjuer med kvinnliga socialarbetare som har utländskt ursprung. Syftet med vår undersökning var att undersöka hur socialarbetare med utländsk bakgrund resonerar kring ett behov av kulturkompetens i möten med invandrarklienter. Våra frågeställningar var: Hur definierar socialarbetarna begreppet kulturkompetens? Vilka erfarenheter har socialarbetarna av betydelsen av kulturkompetens i socialt arbete med invandrarklienter? Och vilka fördelar och nackdelar finns det med kulturkompetens enligt socialarbetarna? Vår studie är baserad på fem intervjuer med kvinnliga socialarbetare som har utländskt ursprung. Resultatet analyserades med hjälp av teorier om kultur, kulturkompetens och etniskt sensitivt socialt arbete. Vi har även använt oss av tidigare forskning om dessa ämnen. I resultatet av vår studie framkom det att kulturkompetens i de flesta fall är något positivt men att det inte är en avgörande egenskap för att kunna göra ett lyckat arbete med invandrarklienter. The results of our study revealed that cultural competence in most cases is a positive thing but it is not a decisive factor in order to successfully work with immigrant clients. There were many merits but also some limitations with this type of competence. We will describe these in our results-and analysis section. (Less)
