- Abstract
- In 2014 there were 81,301 applications for asylum to the Immigration Office, where 7049 of them were unaccompanied minors. In Sweden, unaccompanied refugee children who are 15 years of age or older are placed at HVB homes. At these HVB homes it is the staff who has daily contact with the children. My study has had the purpose to examine and analyze what kind of psychosocial needs the staff at HVB homes for unaccompanied refugee children see, and how psychosocial support is a part of everyday work. My study has been based on two theories, Antonovsky's theory of KASAM and Maslow's motivation theory. I have used the method qualitative semi-structured interview, and I have interview five staff who work at HVB homes for unaccompanied refugee... (More)

My study has been based on two theories, Antonovsky's theory of KASAM and Maslow's motivation theory. I have used the method qualitative semi-structured interview, and I have interview five staff who work at HVB homes for unaccompanied refugee children. In the analysis referenced the respondents that it is individual how the children feel and that many children have a need for support, for example psychological support. The accommodation staff try to create a sense of security and can offer to go away and talk when a child feel bad. The respondents lift social relationships to other children at the HVB home, recreational activities and interaction with other organizations as important. To conclude it would be interesting to do further research about what the unaccompanied refugee children themselves express about their need for support. (Less)
