Abstract
The concept of citizenchip and its role in how we organize our societies is subject to a great discussion within social and political science.
In this essay I aim to problematize and lighten the complexity of citizenship. I also aim to lighten new ways of understanding and use citizenchip. I do this by apply parts of the ongoing discussion about citizenship on an actual situation. The situation facing socially exposed non-swedish-EU-citizens in Malmö. A situation in which socially exposed people are neglected social support.

I do this by apply parts of the ongoing discussion about citizenship on an actual situation. The situation facing socially exposed non-swedish-EU-citizens in Malmö. A situation in which socially exposed people are neglected social support.
In my essay I use discourse theory to analyse three diffrent offical documents. Documents which in diffrent ways are handling the right to social support and the situation for socially exposed EU- citizens in Sweden. In the analys I investigate how citizenchip is understod and used in this situation. But also if other, maybe new, ways to understand and use citizenchip are present.
My conclusion is that citizenchip is very complex and not to understand as merely a membership in a nationstate. There is a need to understand this complexity to see how it affect peoples lives, to be able to have a critical approach to the concept and to be able to imagine something else. (Less)
