- Abstract
- This essay will be exploring whether feminist postmodern planning is, or can be, incorporated in a neoliberal planning context. The goal for feminist planning, this essay will argue, is to level social and economical injustices. This can not be achieved while upholding the patriarchal status quo. Feminist planning theories see society as inherently gendered, and that a person's experiences and perceived value in society is affected by their gender. For planners it is important to create urban rooms to which everyone has access, but also to involve marginalized groups in the planning process, as well as the planning profession.

Neoliberal planning tends to create excluding urban rooms, which often have a short term economic trickle down effect, but in the long run cause damaging socioeconomic disparities. I therefore will argue that neoliberal planning does not create equality between the sexes, nor any other groups in society. To reach this conclusion I have done a case study, using place observation to study the transformation of Triangeln and S:t Johannesplan in Malmö, from a shabby back door area to a neoliberal junction. I support these observations with a qualitative critical idea and ideology analysis from a postmodern, feminist perspective, analysing planning documents and marketing material published about the area in question.
