Resistivitets- och IP-mätningar vid Äspö Hard Rock Laboratory

Utrymmet på jordytan håller på att ta slut, vi blir fler och fler och våra städer blir större och större. Istället för att
expandera våra städer utåt borde det fokuseras på att göra mer plats i städerna. I en vanlig svensk stad utgörs idag
nästan 50 % av vägar och annan transport. Om det mesta av all transport hade kunnat förflyttas ned under marken
istället, hade den frigjorda platsen kunnat bli bostäder, parker och andra mänskliga nödvändigheter.
Av denna anledning startades projektet Geoinfra-TRUST år 2013 finansierat av svenska staten. Projektet syftar
till att göra det billigare, miljövänligare och snabbare att bygga infrastruktur under marken genom att utveckla nya

istället, hade den frigjorda platsen kunnat bli bostäder, parker och andra mänskliga nödvändigheter.
Av denna anledning startades projektet Geoinfra-TRUST år 2013 finansierat av svenska staten. Projektet syftar
till att göra det billigare, miljövänligare och snabbare att bygga infrastruktur under marken genom att utveckla nya
geofysiska metoder eller att förbättra de nuvarande. Geofysiska metoder är ett sätt att undersöka marken utan att
behöva borra eller gräva.
I projektet ingår det att utveckla resistivitets- och IP-mätningar (inducerad polarisation). Vilket är mål 2.1. och
4.2. inom Geoinfra-TRUST. En fältstudie utfördes nära Oskarhamns kärnkraftverk vid Äspö Hard Rock Laboratory
mellan och på öarna Äspö och Hålö. Målet för undersökningen var att lokalisera en sprickzon (NE1) så bra som
möjligt och se om det var något som kunde förbättrats för att få bättre resultat. Mätningarna genomfördes och resultatet
för resistiviteten blev bra men IP-mätningarna hade mycket störningar. Bearbetning av den brusiga IP-datan
kan komma att göra att datan blir användbar men det kommer att ta tid. I resistiviteten syntes sprickzonen NE1 tydligt.
På grund av de stora skillnaderna i resistivitet mellan vatten och berg så blev ”mean residual” högre än vad den
hade blivit om hela profilen låg i vatten eller på land. Slutsatsen av projektet är att programvaror och instrument
kan avsevärt förbättras inom resistivitetsmätningar och IP-mätningar. Resistivitets- och IP-mätningarna har sina
egna begränsningar som metod. (Less)

The room for the human race on earth is dwindling. The population is increasing and our cities are expanding every
day. Instead of expanding our cities we could focus on creating more room inside our cities. Today close to 50% of
the total area of a normal Swedish city consist of transport infrastructure What if we could move most of that 50%
down below ground? Imagine all the space it would create and what we could do with it. We could fit nearly twice
the amount of people in the same area or have nearly twice the space per citizen.

The assignment the 2.1. and 4.2. projectgroup were given was to develop resistivity and induced polarisation
measurement (IP) and also to correlate different geophysical measurements with each other.
A field study was done close to Oskarhamns nuclear power plant at Äspö Hard Rock Laboratory between and on
Äspö and Hålö. The goal was to locate a fracture zone at the southern end of Äspö. The measurements were completed
and the results for the resistivity were satisfying but the results for the IP-measurements had a lot of disturbance.
The disturbance could probably be filtered but it requires time. The resistivity measurements found the fracture
zone but the IP did not.
It was hard to obtain low differences between the measured data and the calculated data because of the huge
difference in resistivity over tiny distances. Which meant that the mean residual became larger than it should have
been. The results would have been better if whole measurement were in water or on land, even though the results
were acceptable they would have turned out better that way. (Less)
