- El enfoque de esta tesina se basa en revisar, resumir y analizar los aspectos políticos de Cuba en las novelas Antes que anochezca y Viaje a La Habana del poeta/escritor cubano, Reinaldo Arenas, que tras ser declarado disidente por sus ideas contrarrevolucionarias y su orientación sexual fue oprimido, perseguido y finalmente exiliado de Cuba cuando viajó contra su voluntad a los EEUU donde pasó los últimos años de su vida en un exilio acompañado por la enfermedad terminal de SIDA que consumió mucha de su energía y ganas de luchar por una Cuba libre. - El enfoque de esta tesina se basa en revisar, resumir y analizar los aspectos políticos de Cuba en las novelas Antes que anochezca y Viaje a La Habana del poeta/escritor cubano, Reinaldo Arenas, que tras ser declarado disidente por sus ideas contrarrevolucionarias y su orientación sexual fue oprimido, perseguido y finalmente exiliado de Cuba cuando viajó contra su voluntad a los EEUU donde pasó los últimos años de su vida en un exilio acompañado por la enfermedad terminal de SIDA que consumió mucha de su energía y ganas de luchar por una Cuba libre. La tesina analiza las opiniones y críticas de Arenas para poder ver de cerca la imagen que describe el autor sobre Cuba. El punto principal de la obra gira alrededor de la anomalía que existe al estudiar los textos de Arenas: la validez de su crítica sobre Cuba y Fidel Castro en general. Para poder afrontar dicho problema la tesina analiza la escritura de Arenas y además toma como apoyo trabajos de otros escritores y académicos a la hora de analizar la crítica del autor y mira de cerca sus razones. Las opiniones de Arenas y la imagen de Cuba dada en dichas obras, aunque en muchos aspectos muy válidas, carecen a veces de la sustancia sólida y los argumentos objetivos que se necesitan para describir la situación política de un país. Arenas parece sufrir de un prejuicio causado por su exilio, su homosexualidad y su enfermedad terminal, temas que, según analizados en esta tesina, han afectado su texto y sus opiniones sobre Cuba. - The focus of this thesis is to revise, summarize and analyze the political aspects of Cuba in Antes que anochezca and Viaje a La Habana by the Cuban poet/writer, Reinaldo Arenas, who upon being declared a dissident due to his counter revolutionary ideas and his sexual orientation, suffered oppression, persecution and, finally, exile from Cuba when he, much against his will, travelled to the United States of America where he spent his final years in an exile accompanied by the terminal disease of Aids that consumed much of his energy and will to fight for a free Cuba. Arenas’s opinions and the image of Cuba given by him in the above mentioned novels, even though valid in many aspects, still seem to lack a solid substance and the objective arguments that are necessary to describe the political situation of a country. Arenas seems to suffer a prejudice caused by his exile, his sexual orientation and his illness, matters that, according to the analysis of this essay, have affected his writing and his opinions of Cuba.
