The informants reported extremely difficult experiences which caused mental stress during their operations in Afghanistan. The individuals were expected to manage this mental stress by themselves, and they did not experience a significant need for professional support. However, the results showed that the individuals were confronted with several obstacles regarding how to manage and process their experiences in constructive ways. Therefore, it is important to change soldiers’ attitudes of mental illness and hence facilitate the process of seeking support in the military context. (Less)
Abstract (Swedish)
Soldaterna hade upplevt extrem mental belastning under sina insatser i Afghanistan. (More)

Soldaterna hade upplevt extrem mental belastning under sina insatser i Afghanistan. (Less)
